Faith in Action - Volunteer Service to Seniors - FIA

Goal: to keep seniors proudly independent in their homes.

VSS is an interfaith volunteer caregiving program of the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Volunteers work together to care for their neighbors who have long-term health needs.

Faith in Action volunteers come from churches, synagogues, mosques, and other houses of worship, as well as the community at large. They help those in need by:

• picking up groceries and running errands;
• providing transportation to medical appointments;
• friendly visiting (talking and listening);
• reading and assisting with correspondence (e.g. bill payments)

With these kinds of volunteer assistance, members of the community who have long-term health needs can maintain their independence for as long as possible.
